By now, the front-running of unregistered domains at NetSol is old news, but I must say that I was not at all surprised; I suspect that most (if not all) registrars are involved in some kind of questionable activity, if not front-running.
Certainly, some registrars are involved in "handing over" deleting domains to auction houses. Am I the only one who has a problem with this practice?
And the .mobi auction at Sedo...well, we'll see how the do-over auction works out.
I hate to be so cynical, but greed seems to rule this field. Perhaps this is the function of a field in its infancy. Sooner or later, domaining will be regulated by government bodies and not just the U.S.
Right now, the blogosphere is filled with complaints and laments about NetSol's activities, but once the dust settles, it will be business as usual, and other registrars will start front-running because if the great NetSol can get away with front-running without being spanked, why wouldn't others fall into line? Why not grab your slice of the front-running pie?
I sincerely hope I'm wrong; this could be a good opportunity for domaining to clean up its chaotic house, but I'm not hopeful.
Prove me wrong!
I'm going to pour myself a stiff Mastika and watch Medium on Croatian Hallmark--see how I have degenerated during my Winter vacation in the Balkans?
